About us
LoopLoop was founded by Odin Visser and Charles Gateau in 2022 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After a collaboration for a one-off project, both felt drawn to do more together as there was a strong alignment in their curiosities and aspirations. They share multidisciplinary backgrounds that are complementary, ranging from art to engineering and going through industrial design.
The studio seeks to tackle sustainability by weaving together insights from both industry and craft in its processes. While industrial production techniques provide a large array of possibilities to make things – craft is rooted in locality, rationality, and spirituality. Looploop thinks qualities of both sides are able to combine and benefit from each other, creating a new form of making that has a place in the future.
Odin Visser (left) has a background in industrial engineering (MSc Delft University of Technology, 2007). “Playful Minimalism” is at the core of his work, always looking for less ingredients and more emotion. His ongoing quest is creating objects and products that are loved and have phoenix-like qualities, designed for another Loop, in any shape imaginable.
Charles Gateau (right) obtained a master’s degree in materials science at EEIGM (University of Lorraine) in 2014, followed in 2016 by a second masters in design from a joint program between Saint-Etienne’s ESADSE art and design school, Ecole des Mines engineering school, and the Jean Monnet university. He has since collaborated with various designers and artists with a focus developing production techniques, while teaching at the Design Academy Eindhoven between 2017 and 2022.
